About this product

Poul Henningsen endeavoured to create glare-free light, direct light where it was most needed, and create soft shadows, using incandescent bulbs as a light source. Henningsen’s mathematic approach to lighting, using the logarithmic spiral, led to the development of the three-shade system in 1925-6 and the following product family, which over the years has included hundreds of different models, ranging from floor lamps to table lamps, pendants, chandeliers and wall lamps.

The PH 2/1 Limited Edition 2024 is a petite version of the classic table lamp, with mouth-blown four-layered coloured glass-shades and stem and base made of lacquered aged brass. The lamp is a wonderful statement piece to add to the home, that takes its inspiration from Henningsen's original lamps designed throughout the 1920s-40s.

The aged brass patina can vary. Please note that the brass is treated and the surface will note change over time.
The glass shades are all handmade and mouth-blown individually. Please be aware that there might be differences in the hues from one glass shade to another and from one lamp to another, even in seemingly identical lamps.

The imperfect beauty of each lamp

Louis Poulsen’s multi-layered glass lampshades are crafted using traditional mouth-blown glass techniques dating back to ancient Italy. Glassmakers add a mineral mixture and/or opal white to tint the glass as they layer it. When the glass reaches a temperature above 1400°C, it tones the glass. Even if the colour mixtures match precisely, the varying glass thickness subtly influences the hue.

The glass shades are all handmade and mouth-blown individually. When each lamp is assembled with its unique shades, the colours may vary. There might be differences in the hues from one glass shade to another and from one lamp to another, even in seemingly identical lamps. These are natural variations in the appearance of the glass, which contributes to the imperfect beauty of each lamp.
