The Danish-Italian design duo GamFratesi’s design from 2017 has re-emerged in a softer Scandinavian style. Louis Poulsen presents a new Yuh, with a brass stem and a black or white marble base that is sure to add a touch of sophistication to all kinds of interiors.
“The functionality is the same but where the first models are more minimal and rigorous in defined colors, the new Yuhs offer a warm feeling, and the stones give each lamp a unique touch,“ Stine Gam and Enrico Fratesi explain.
Yuh has been designed to adapt fully to everyday life with light that moves up, down, and around, as required. It provides a glare-free, downwardly directed light but the fold of the shade leaves a slim opening at the top for a soft and diffused upward glow.
With their appreciation of indirect light, GamFratesi has incorporated a diffuser into Yuh. Built-in LED technology provides high-quality light with dimming capability from 15 to 100%. A timer can automatically turn the light off after 4 or 8 hours, and it can be set to illuminate at a fixed level of brightness whenever the lamp is switched on.
As well as the Yuh table lamp, the Danish-Italian design duo also introduced the Yuh floor lamp and Yuh wall lamp as their first Louis Poulsen designs in 2017. The designs are available in all-black and all-white versions. Now, however, it is time for something new.
“Nature meets technology in the new Yuhs. It's a very tactile and natural product,” GamFratesi says.
Where the classic black or white Yuh complements most modern interiors, the new Yuh delivers something extra with its authentic feel of high-quality Italian marble and brass – perfect for emphasizing a softer Scandinavian style.
The new Yuh in brass and marble will be available in stores from September 2019.
About GamFratesi
GamFratesi’s designs take their creative drive from a fusion of tradition and innovation in an experimental approach to their chosen materials and techniques. Each with their own traditional background, Stine Gam and Enrico Fratesi draw from classic Danish furniture and craftsmanship as well as a classic Italian intellectual and conceptual approach. Understanding a tradition and addressing it actively in the workshop makes it possible to expand on it. From this cross-cultural substrate, they create designs that respectfully reflect tradition, while also featuring unique embedded stories, symbols, and associations, often expressed through minimalism.
GamFratesi was founded in 2006 by Danish architect Stine Gam and Italian architect Enrico Fratesi. They met at the Department of Architecture at the University of Ferrara in Northern Italy in 2004 and have since studied together at the Aarhus School of Architecture in Denmark. GamFratesi has a studio in Copenhagen.
