In fall 2022, Louis Poulsen will introduce the Panthella Portable and Panthella Mini in new, vibrant colors. The new colors will suit any interior style—from Scandi-cool to eclectic—making this outstanding 1971 design by Danish architect Verner Panton as relevant as ever.
Reinterpreting nuances of nature, these extraordinary Coral and Pale Blue Panthella lamps, together with the Pale Rose version, serve as calming state-of-the-art essentials in homes, offices, and public spaces; reconnecting people with their living environments while providing little islands of light and a wondrous ambiance wherever it is needed.
These vivid and brave new colors have expanded Panton’s vibrant design world, evoking feelings of festive and artistic play in the most modern of interiors—while applauding the world-renowned designer, whose work continues to provide joy to the world.
The Panthella Portable and Panthella Mini both emit a pleasant non-glaring light. Their metal shades provide downwardly directed illumination that creates a focused ambiance. The white-painted inner shade mirrors a comfortable glow, which is again softly reflected in the characteristic trumpet-shaped stem.
The serene tones of the Pale Blue and Pale Rose complement the vibrant Coral—and when toned up or down, they provide their own rich and comfortable warmth to any interior. The latest Panthella variants are just as enjoyable in an office setting as they are in an outdoor bar, hotel room, or at home in a hallway or child’s room. The organic shape of Panton’s iconic 70s design and its superb lighting are easily recognized, regardless of where it is placed. Once charged, wirelessly or via USB, the Panthella Portable is easy to take along anywhere—indoors or outdoors, where it will instantly create pleasing atmospheric illumination in any setting.
The Panthella Portable and Panthella Mini in Coral and Pale Blue will be available from September 2022, along with the Pale Rose variant.
About Verner Panton
Over the course of his career, Verner Panton (1926-1998) introduced a series of modern lamps with qualities unlike any of his Scandinavian contemporaries. With remarkable faith in the unlimited possibilities of form, he successfully established a new set of theories about light functionality and had an immense influence on design in general.
Panton had very clear ideas about his work and about shape, color, and function. At the same time, he made conscious and bold use of different materials. He liked experimenting and working in plastic, foam, Plexiglass, etc., and making his designs available to a broader audience. While prominent Danish contemporaries like Poul Kjærholm, Hans J. Wegner, and Børge Mogensen were applying traditional craftsmanship to classic, natural materials, Panton thought ahead of his time and kept pushing the boundaries of materials, design possibilities, and production methods.
