Danish stylist Tine Daring finds that classic designs provide an excellent basis for home décor, adding both character and a sense of history. Discover her favourite home décor ideas for the VL 45 Radiohus lamps.
Danish stylist Tine Daring collaborated with Louis Poulsen for the photo shoot of the recent VL 45 Radiohus lamp campaign. In her home, she talks about the trending coloured glass lamps and portable lighting, sharing tips on how to style them:
"Vilhelm Lauritzen is a master of shapes, lines and incorporating light in his architecture. I’ve often come across his work when using his buildings as locations for photo shoots. They are stunning, just like his lamp designs.”
Tine Daring sees a growing trend in interior decoration, where more coloured glass is used in contrast to the modern and minimalist styles that have dominated in recent years.
Although the reasons for this could be many, she suggests that it may be influenced by a growing desire for a cosier, more comforting atmosphere at home. She believes that during times of change and uncertainty, we often seek warmth and security, making the coloured VL 45 Radiohus lamps the perfect choice:
"The soft glow of the lamps reminds me of the old movie trick where a silk scarf is elegantly draped over a lamp, transforming the space into a more intimate setting. You get the same effect with the new coloured VL 45 Radiohus lamps. They are both unique and beautiful."
Tine Daring believes portable lamps are redefining how we think about interior décor lighting. They break the rules of classic lamps, which demand a conscious decision about where and how to place them in a space.
Portable lamps make everything more playful and meet different needs for light in a home. As the sun moves during the day, one corner may be sunny in the morning but dark in the afternoon, where you can quickly move your portable lamp to provide a warm ambience:
“I wouldn’t use the VL 45 Portable lamp in one specific way, but instead embrace its flexibility. I would put it on top of a stack of books next to my favourite reading spot, use it outside to light up the garden or terrace, or put it on the dinner table when I have guests over, and even take it to the bathroom for a spa feeling.”
Tine Daring likes how classic designs resonate so well with older houses, where they sometimes look like they were made especially for them. However, classic designs in newer buildings provide quality and depth, making a space stand out more.
Daring’s favourite Vilhelm Lauritzen lamp is the VL 45 Radiohus Pendant that she prefers to hang low in corners, or next to a chair, the bed, or anywhere else other than above the dining table:
“If you hang the VL 45 Radiohus pendant lower, it spreads the light lower, too. Also, the shape of the lamp stands out more as a sculptural element in the room than a traditionally placed lamp.”
