The height at which you hang the ceiling pendant, depends on the size of the fixture. For a smaller pendant, we’d recommend that the bottom of the pendant should be between 55 – 62cm above the surface of the table, while a larger pendant should hang so the bottom of the pendant is between 60 and 70 cm from the surface of the table.
Make sure to check the height and ensure that you’re happy with it before you cut the cable to the right length.
The number of pendants you choose depends on the size of your dining table and the desired light distribution. We recommend hanging pendant lamps approximately 80 cm apart, as this allows for the light to be evenly distributed on the surface of the table.
The shape and material of the lamp above your dining table, should depend on a few different factors, including the purpose of the lamp and the desired light distribution as well as the positioning of the lamp.
If you select a dining room light fixture which has an opaque metal top shade, it will provide primarily downward directed lighting, which can work well if you don’t want a general diffused light around the room but want to focus the light on the dining table, while choosing a lamp with opal glass shades will provide a softer light that not only lights up the table, but also the faces of those seated around the table.
