Louis Poulsen will present six vibrant new colours as part of the Autumn 2024 Panthella 160 Portable Lamp series. New technology improves the functionality of Verner Panton's famous design and highlights the playfulness of the Danish architect and designer's famous exploratory universes of novel materials and colours.
Designed by Verner Panton in 1971, the Panthella remains as inspiring as ever. With a diameter of 160 mm, The Panthella 160 Portable Lamp is a tasteful addition to any interior style, whether it is classic, modern, minimalistic or eclectic. It provides excellent lighting, and its convenient size makes it ideal to bring anywhere inside and outside your home, to the balcony, garden, or even to the park.
The new Panthella 160 Portable Lamp series features polymer shades that balance the lamp perfectly while maintaining its look and finish. It comes in 13 dazzling colours to suit every taste, reflecting Panton’s captivating design universe. The new finishes include yellow, indigo blue, beige, beige chrome, metallised brass and chrome, with some available in opaque shades and others in opal shades.
The Panthellas with opaque shades primarily provide a pleasant downward directed light from the white inner shade, which reflects softly in the trumpet-shaped base. The opal shade variants offer a softer illumination due to the transparency of the shades.
The touch-sensitive controls are new to the Panthella 160 Portable Lamp series. Simply touch the top nut to adjust the brightness and turn the light on or off. The lamp can be recharged using a USB cord and has a more durable, replaceable battery for extended usage. When fully charged, it provides approximately 8,5 hours of light at 100% and up to 45 hours when dimmed to 10%.
The distinctive shape of Panton’s 70s design is as refreshing as its superb lighting quality and atmospheric illumination, no matter where it is placed. Once charged, you can take it anywhere to enhance the surroundings and create a pleasant ambience.

About Verner Panton
Verner Panton (1926-1998) is renowned for his inspiring and vibrant personality. He was unique, and had an extraordinary sense of colour, shape, light and space. Throughout his career, Panton introduced a series of modern lamps unlike any of his Scandinavian contemporaries.
According to Panton himself, the primary purpose of his work was to encourage people to use their imagination. He believed that most people live in dull, grey-beige conformity, mortally afraid of using colour. By experimenting with lighting, colour, textiles and furniture, and by utilizing the latest technologies, he strove to demonstrate new ways to inspire people to use their imagination and make their surroundings more exciting.
Verner Panton had a clear aptitude for shape, colour and function in his work. He also boldly used different materials, which his counterparts criticised for lacking timelessness. However, the great interest in his designs today proves quite the opposite.
