Helmed by two Danish and Italian giants, GamFratesi's designs have been reborn in 2017 with a softer Scandinavian style. Louis Poulsen's new Yuh is based on brass columns and a black or white marble base, adding a touch of sophistication to any interior type.
"Unlike the first model, which had the same functionality, but with a more minimalist feel and a selection of colours, the new Yuh has a warm feeling and the stone material gives each lamp a unique feel," explains Stine Gam and Enrico Fratesi.
Yuh is designed to be moved up, down, left and right as needed, making it perfectly suitable for everyday life. Not only does it provide glare-free downward lighting, but when the shade is folded down, a narrow gap at the top allows soft diffused light to shine upwards.
The diffuser integrated into Yuh demonstrates GamFratesi's penchant for valuing indirect light. In addition, it has built-in LED technology, excellent light quality, and can be dimmed by 15~100%. On top of all that, you can use a timer to automatically turn the lights on and off after 4 or 8 hours, and set the lights to a fixed level each time the lamp turns on.
In addition to the Yuh table lamp, the Danish-Italian duo designed the Yuh floor lamp and Yuh wall for Louis Poulsen for the first time in 2017. At the time, Yuh was available in all-black and all-white versions, and now it was time for something new.
"The new Yuh symbolises the meeting of nature and technology, and it's a very tactile and natural product," says GamFratesi.
While the classic black and white Yuh is a great complement to the most modern interiors, the new Yuh features a natural feel from high-quality Italian marble and brass with a gentle accent of Scandinavian style.
The new Yuh, crafted from brass and marble, will be available in stores in September 2019.
About GamFratesi
GamFratesi's designs draw creative inspiration from the fusion of tradition and innovation through an experimental approach to carefully selected materials and techniques. With their different traditional backgrounds, Stine Gam and Enrico Fratesi inherit traditional Danish furniture and craftsmanship, as well as time-honoured Italian intellectual and conceptual approaches. Understanding traditions and actively reflecting them in the workplace is the only way to expand them. Drawing on these diverse cultures, they create designs that respect traditions but also embody unique stories, symbols, and associations, often expressed through minimalism.
GamFratesi is a design studio co-founded in 2006 by Danish architect Stine Gam and Italian architect Enrico Fratesi. They first met in 2004 at the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Ferrara in northern Italy and have been studying together at the Aarhus School of Architecture in Denmark.
