As a tribute to the ingenious way in which Poul Henningsen played with light, Louis Poulsen is launching an exclusive limited edition of the PH 3½-3 pendant with amber-coloured glass and a brass mount. Poul Henningsen designed the legendary, reflective three-shade system back in 1926, and by the end of the 1920s it was already being introduced in a coloured glass version. The design with the brass suspension was originally introduced in 1928. The Italian, mouth-blown triple-layer glass in the classic amber hue emphasises the pendant’s exceptionally warm and inviting look. As the glass shades for each pendant are individually made, no two lamps are exactly the same. Each lamp is unique, and just as much a work of art as a piece of functional lighting.
The warm amber colour and gloss finish on the outer surfaces of the shades combined with the sandblasted matt undersides creates a soft and perfectly diffused illumination. When the lamp is switched off, it continues to be a dynamic feature in the surroundings, as they are reflected in its glossy surface. The suspension is made of untreated brushed brass, so unless it is polished it will develop a unique patina over time. This exclusive model is only available from 1 November to 31 December 2017.
