Warranty Info

Louis Poulsen A/S provides a five-year warranty from the invoice date against defects and faults in construction or materials on Louis Poulsen products.  

 

The warranty period commences on the date when the product is first sold as new and invoiced by Louis Poulsen or its dealer. The purchase must always be documented with an original receipt.

 

Louis Poulsen cannot be held liable for damages caused by wrong, unsuitable or irresponsible use of the product, including in relation to storage, installation, or maintenance of the product. The warranty only applies if the following terms and producedures are complied with:

  1. The product shall be used solely in accordance with the product specification and user manual.
  2. The product must be properly installed in accordance with any applicable installation instructions, and where required by law, installed by a duly authorised electrician.
  3. The end user or a third party may only make modifications to the product or attempt to repair the product if Louis Poulsen has provided prior written consent. However, consent is not required if the repair is performed by a Louis Poulsen-authorized service partner.

 

The warranty does not cover:

  1. Normal wear and tear.
  2. Naturally occurring variations in materials (e.g. color and texture) and patination.
  3. Socket-based light sources.

 

The warranty period is limited to two years from the invoice date for batteries.

 

Claim

It is a condition for invoking the warranty that the end user submits a written claim within the warranty period, no later than two months after the end user has discovered or should have discovered the defect.

 

Remedy

In the event of defects covered by the warranty, Louis Poulsen will at its sole discretion choose to remedy the defect either through repair or delivery of a replacement product. In this connection, the end user shall per request from Louis Poulsen hand in the product to the closest authorized Louis Poulsen dealer for the purpose of initiating repair or replacement. The product must always be returned to Louis Poulsen in adequate packaging, and the risk of damage during transport is the responsibility of the end user.

 

If repair can be carried out by replacing spare parts or other materials, and such replacement can be carried out without material inconvenience for the end user (as assessed by Louis Poulsen), Louis Poulsen is entitled to refer the end user to carry out the replacement itself. In such case, Louis Poulsen will free of charge deliver the spare parts or materials necessary for the end user to carry out the replacement.

 

Replacement products are be delivered by Louis Poulsen to the nearest authorized Louis Poulsen dealer, where it can be collected by the end user. Replacement will only be carried out once the defect on the original product has been verified by Louis Poulsen.

 

If the defect cannot be remedied without disproportionate costs and if replacement delivery is not possible, e.g. in the event that the original product is no longer available at the time of the claim, Louis Poulsen may choose to refund the purchase price.

 

Louis Poulsen shall cover costs for transport/freight/delivery relating to repair covered by the warranty. However, Louis Poulsen shall not in any case cover any costs in connection with dismounting or remounting of any old product, mounting of any new product or similar costs connected with the repair.

 

Disclaimer of liability

Louis Poulsen shall not be liable for any damages caused by natural events (including lightning strike), power supply including transients, excessive or insufficient voltage and ripple current operating systems,

that are out of order, as such damages are not regarded as defects and therefore not covered by the war-ranty. Louis Poulsen shal not be liable for any defects caused by compatibility issues between the product and the installation environment, e.g. the control system or the power supply.

 

Louis Poulsen shall not be liable for loss of profit, operating loss or other indirect loss or consequential loss. A claim for damages or compensation can never exceed the purchase price paid by the end user for the defective product.

 

Choice of law and venue

The warranty, and any dispute arising out of or in connection with this warranty, is subject to Danish Law.  Any dispute that may arise from or in connection with this warranty, including disputes regarding the exist-ence or validity of the warranty, shall be settled by the City Court of Copenhagen.
