In 1958, Poul Henningsen designed the PH Artichoke for Langelinie Pavilionen, a modernist Copenhagen restaurant, in which the iconic pendant continues to inspire guests. Each of the 72 leaves on the PH Artichoke are carefully mounted on the frame by hand, giving the pendant its distinctive shape, that inspired its name, while also ensuring glare-free light from every angle. The leaves of the original PH Artichoke had a rosy hue on the inner sides, which has inspired the colour of the PH Artichoke Pale Rose, a pendant that is a beautiful statement piece.
A classic hue
When Poul Henningsen designed the PH Artichoke in 1958, the inside of each of the leaves had a pale rose hue. This was to soften the light output, which at the time was very harsh. The new PH Artichoke Pale Rose honours Poul Henningsen’s original design with the soft hue of each of the 72 leaves.
Crafted by hand
Each PH Pale Rose Artichoke is created by hand. Each of the 72 leaves are manually checked by skilled workers in Vejen and then mounted upon the frame by hand, to ensure the highest quality.
