Gol School

The high-ceilinged atrium at this school in Norway has been filled with colour, thanks to dozens of LP Circle Suspended fixtures from Louis Poulsen.

The space forms the heart of a striking new €22 million (208 million krone) building in Norway’s Hallingdal valley, created by architects Vis-à-Vis.

As well as adding a splash of colour, LP Circle’s outer ring hides its high-efficiency diffuser when viewed from low angles. The inner surface of the ring is subtly angled at five degrees, creating a comfortable and decorative gradation of light.

The fixtures provide gentle, diffuse light when needed, and introduce a lively decorative element even when unlit.

Outside the school, Louis Poulsen’s Flindt bollards illuminate footpaths. Flindt is designed to emit glare-free directional light, while also illuminating its own form. The bollard’s distinctive light signature is achieved by two LED light sources and a rounded “slit” in the cylindrical body – resembling a cut in a piece of wood.

Louis Poulsen’s designs have been incorporated into the architectural vision for the school, helping to create a fun, vibrant and welcoming environment.
