Trailblazing architecture and design

Danish design and architecture pioneer Verner Panton (1926-1998) was revered for showcasing his vibrant personality in his furniture and lighting designs.

His unique eye for shape, color, light, and space diffuses through his work. He led the way with his playful boundary-pushing use of bold colors and geometric shapes.

Furniture was where Verner Panton’s experience began. He honed his craft to produce iconic pieces such as the Cone Chair and the Panton Chair in collaboration with Vitra. However, the company required several years of experimenting to manufacture the chair as Panton demanded.

Panton played with color, shape, light, textiles, and fresh technologies in his designs and often challenged manufacturers with his futuristic ideas and demands.

His commitment to non-conformity led to doubts from peers about the longevity of his work. The modern popularity of Verner Panton lamps and furniture answers those doubts. His Panthella lamps have been successfully on the market since they were designed in the early 1970s.
