Brass is a precious metal often used in furnishings and classic designs, to which the well-known golden colour adds a touch of elegance. As a natural metal, if it isn’t treated or lacquered, brass will patinate beautifully over time, which gives every piece its own unique character. Many Louis Poulsen lamps are created with beautiful brushed brass which has fine hairlines that follow the form of the fixture, other products are formed with lacquered brass which has a beautiful shine.

How you care for your brass lamp depends on whether it is lacquered or not.
Brass
Many Louis Poulsen lamps have brass elements, which will patinate beautifully over time, however if you want to retain the original appearance, we recommend that you polish them every so often using a specific brass polish. For regular, general cleaning of the brass elements we recommend that you use a soft microfibre cloth.
Lacquered Brass
To care for your lacquered brass, we recommend that you regularly polish them with a damp microfibre cloth.
