In autumn 2021, Louis Poulsen launches, in collaboration with Kilo Design, a refined suspension system for e-socket pendants, enhancing spaces with new elegant constellations and individual clusters of lighting. It is called Dependant.
The Danish design studio Kilo Design has created a suspension system, a modular system that can be used and customised for different applications. The system is designed to complement and suspend various types of Louis Poulsen e-socket pendant designs, enabling everyone to make outstanding pendant lighting clusters.
“The design was inspired by the iconic pendants that will be suspended within the system. The system’s structures and transitions take cues from the design language you will find if you dive into the Louis Poulsen pendant collection. It was very important for us to create a system that would complement and feel familiar when used together with the pendants”, Lars Larsen, Kilo Design.
Dependant allows for custom configuration of multiple pendants that delivers great impact with minimal effort, accentuating the lighting both in hospitality, office and commercial spaces, retail environments, and residential use as well.
Designed for flexible use in a variety of settings, the adaptable suspension system comes in a linear version, which holds three or five pendants and in a circular version that can hold four or six pendants. All versions allow for each pendant to be positioned at the preferred height. The fixtures can be installed horizontally, at the same level, or be placed at different heights to create a more spherical shape.
“Flexibility has been crucial in the design of Dependant to enable users to create their own clusters or settings. It is all about the lamps and we have tried to create a framework for the Louis Poulsen pendants that is basically an enabler for customisation and creativity”, Lars Larsen, Kilo Design
The Dependant system comes in a black, white or with a brass metallised finish and combined with the diversity of the pendant designs, the appearance can be varied almost endlessly to match every interior. Regardless of whether a classic or a more modern expression is preferred, it is possible to create a system that will work perfect for the given space.
All variants of the system hold Louis Poulsen pendant favourites and classics under 5 kg with an e-socket, such as the VL45, Above, Toldbod, Cirque and Wohlert as well as the PH 2/1, PH 3/2 and PH 5 Mini, VL Ring Crown 1, Doo-Wop and Moser.
The Dependant series will be available from November 2021.
