Systematic

Just outside the city of Aarhus, Denmark, an impressive 15-floor tower has gracefully been added to the existing buildings of the successful IT-company Systematic.

15 floors of quality lighting

Founded in 1985 and still growing, Systematic needed more space, and the tower with a floor space of 7,200 m2 was designed. Architect Jan Olesen from the property company Olav de Linde:

“We wanted the tower to reflect the solid and reliable virtues of Systematic as well as the modern and innovative DNA of the company.”

Inside and out, the tower is made of honest quality materials like concrete, wood, and glass. The same focus on quality was adapted in the interior design, where more than 1,000 LP Circle Semi Recessed fixtures in tree different sizes were chosen to light up the majestic tower. The architect team Gitte Frederiksen Kjølby and Lærke Bo Poulsen explain:

”We chose not follow any specific trends regarding the interior design, but to go with long lasting quality solutions in a minimalistic, Nordic, and timeless design.”

All over the tower the LP Circle Semi Recessed fixtures emit a pleasant, glare-free light. In each lamp the diffuser is encircled by a voluminous aluminium ring that adds an extra dimension to the interior and makes you notice the stylish fixture instead of the less attractive pipework, ventilation, and sprinklers.

The characteristic round shape of the building is echoed in the round shape of the fixtures, which creates a coherent experience of the building down to the smallest detail. Even the colour of the aluminium ring was selected specifically for Systematic. Architect Lærke Bo Poulsen facilitated the process:

”We wanted the warmth from the copper-like exterior of the tower to extend to the inside, so we choose to go with a carefully selected custom grey colour (RAL 7039 gloss 5) on the aluminium rings to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere inside the building.”

In the office area the fixtures are installed in a tight grid to meet the Danish and European standards of lighting, like DS/EN 12464-1, and ensure an optimal working light with minimal glare to create the best possible working conditions. In the hallways and in social zones, like the common areas and around the kitchenettes, the fixtures are installed more freely to emphasise the architecture, atmosphere, and purpose of the specific area. CEO of Systematic, Michael Holm, says:

”Every morning the lighting beautifully sets the scene for a new day at Systematic. I am very happy to see how well the lighting has been received by the employees and to experience how it makes everyone happier, more energized, and creative.”

Investing in quality lighting is also in line with the sustainable mindset that architect Gitte Frederiksen Kjølby always brings to her projects:

”Quality equals a longer lasting product, less replacement, and less maintenance. Spare parts for the LP Circle fixtures can be ordered if necessary, and thereby the lifespan of the fixtures is extended, which is a vital part of a sustainable product life cycle. “

Serving a functional, aesthetic, and sustainable purpose, the LP Circle Semi Recessed fixtures help the Systematic tower rise above the ordinary – inside and out.
