Lakeside lighting that is sensitive to its surroundings
A walk around the Frøylandsvatnet lake in southwest Norway takes you on a beautiful journey through thick forest and open farmland.

On the way, Flindt bollards from Louis Poulsen provide subtly integrated lighting that honours the natural setting. Illumination on the footpath around the lake helps make the route easily accessible.

Much of the path is lit by masts, but one section that passes in front of a private home required a different approach, to avoid creating unwanted glare for residents. Louis Poulsen proposed its Flindt illuminated bollard as a solution.
The distinctive light signature of Flindt results from the combination of two carefully positioned LED light sources and the distinctive rounded “slit” in its simple cylindrical form – reminiscent of a cut in a piece of wood. Flindt’s corten finish adds to the natural feel.
The bollard is designed to emit glare-free directional light, while also illuminating its own body. Its asymmetric light distribution makes it ideal for areas where spill light must be avoided. Flindt creates clear, even light on the Frøylandsvatnet path without disturbing homes. Whether lit or unlit, it is a beautiful addition to the lakeside landscape.
