Poul Henningsen designed hundreds of lamps based on the three-shade system he developed in 1926 to enable unequalled lighting quality for all purposes. Many of his lamp designs include a number that refers to the shade sizes of each fixture. The PH 3/3 is described as a ‘whole’ sized pendant, characterised by its appealing compact semblance with the top shade of approximately 30 centimetres corresponding to the middle and lower shade in the proportions 3:2:1. PH’s ‘whole’ sized fixtures are designed to be particularly glare-free and are therefore ideal placed high in a room where they integrate superior quality lighting with a warm ambience. The more widely known ‘hybrid’ sizes, on the other hand, are designed to hang low and provide optimum lighting and an attractive atmosphere above a table, for example. In 2022, Louis Poulsen continues this ‘whole’ sized line with the introduction of the PH 3/3 Pendant Limited Edition. Made of opal glass and brass, it offers a particular soft and uniform light distribution with the two lower opal glass shades being glossy on top and sandblasted matt on the underside. The brass is characterised by the fine lines that follow the round shape of the fixture. The pendant comes with a specially designed brass canopy and is a limited edition and collector’s item; the brass socket house is marked with PH’s initials. The brass is untreated and will patinate stylishly over time. However, to keep the original finish, it can be polished carefully once in while. The PH 3/3 Pendant Limited Edition will elevate any room, both small spaces as well as areas with high ceilings, whether it be a hallway or kitchen, a bedroom or a living room. This classic Danish design in brass and opal glass looks striking in rows above a table or in a hallway, for example. The pendant is available for a limited period only.
